Just Dance Review vs Sing Star Review

Karaoke and Dance Games:
Increasingly, the popularity of the home entertainment system and party style of game has steadily increased continuing to appear on the UK multimedia market. More advanced gaming platforms, such as those provided by the Wii and Playstation, have added strings to the gamers’ bow, providing an enjoyable and entertaining past time and party game for the entire family at home. The main competitors at present include Sony’s Playstation and their Singstar range, in competition with the Nintendo Wii’s Just Dance version of its home party entertainment genre. Here is a break down of the respective games and their particular selling points.
Singstar Reviewed:

Playstation’s Karaoke system, the Singstar range, has been on the market for some years now, since the release of the PS2. The game is compatible on both the PS2 and PS3 systems with older PS2 style games able to be played on the PS3 system. The newer PS3 system and Singstar games can also be played with downloaded tracks, enabling the user to select their favourite tunes to replicate with their own singing voices. The game revolves around singing in tune and tempo with a selection of backing tracks from popular music artists past and present. There are numerous varieties of the Singstar range covering a multiplicity of artists and genres of music tastes, in order to satisfy all elements of the family.
POSITIVES:
- It is a long established and well founded range of games, on a stable and reliable platform. The PS2 has received numerous positive reviews and continues to sit favourably with the gaming market. The disk loaded device continues to be reliable with few glitches and the Singstar games themselves suffer very few reported technical problems or difficulties.
- There is a flourishing and wide reaching spread of available music, carefully selected and tailored in an effort to meet the entire family’s music tastes. For example, the range extends from pop classics such as ABBA and Queen, to the more modern Boy Band vs Girl Band genre. For children, the range of popular artists from the modern age compliment time old classics such as the Disney sing-along variety.
- Easy to use interface enables quick to follow singing styles, with words that slowly illuminate providing the lyrics and tempo of the piece. Pitch bars illustrate the desired high and low notes, which coloured strips highlight the current singers strengths and weaknesses – allowing themselves (and the viewing audience!) to see their progress and track their singing prowess. There is an overall score provided and a ranking to compare with your friends.
