Fujifilm FinePix Z800EX Specifications, Features and UK Release Date
Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR
Fujifilm is planning to launch this new addition to the FinePix range in the autumn and despite its compact size it packs in plenty of the latest technology, including the second version of the bespoke EXR sensor.
The FinePix Z800EXR will have a 3.5 inch LCD display mounted on the rear to act as viewfinder and picture reviewing screen. This is a particularly large display for a compact camera and it will be fully touch sensitive for intuitive interactions.
The Z800EXR supports 5x optical zoom with its integrated lens and it has a
12 megapixel sensor with autofocus and image stabilisation technologies onboard. What is most impressive about the autofocus on this model is the fact that it will occur almost instantaneously when you depress the shutter button, so there is no need to wait around while the camera tunes itself up.
Fujifilm is releasing the FinePix Z800EXR in a vibrant red and classy black finish, so you will be able to choose the model most suited to your tastes.
It will be available in the run up to Christmas according to the firm’s current release schedule, so it could make an excellent present for keen photographers.

External Backup Devices. Hard Disc Drive Backups. External Hard Drives. Online Backup Storage.
It is essential to back up your data – most people now hold their entire lives on their computers. If you lose your hard disc through failure or have your laptop etc stolen – you are going to feel pretty annoyed you did not back all data up.
An external external hard drive is a great way to keep your data safe – they are not expensive and it is a good idea to have more than one incase you lose one.
There is another way… you may want to consider backing up your data online, it can be set to do it on a scheduled job so you don’t have to mess about with connecting your HDD up. Here are a few suppliers:
- Carbonite External Data Storage: £38 per year, unlimited storage!
- Mozy External Data Storage: 1st 2GB free then £3.25 per month (approx), unlimited storage!

Sony Singstar Volume 3 – £14.99. Consol Singing Games
This is probably the best consol singing game on the market – it provides a huge choice of songs from its online library of over 1200 tracks (which require purchase).
It has wireless mics. This game only rewards you if you exactly match the original work. There are various difficulty settings to help you improve your singing. The screen has a fast navigation and it is said to be simpler to use and read while singing than the competitors (wii and xbox)
Xbox Lips Part Classics. Best Price £17.99. Consol Singing Games
A brand new title from the popular Lips range from Xbox – you get 40 tracks bundled on it plus you can use your xbox live account (monthly charge) to download another 120 – loads of choice.
You can sign in tandem. The lyrics are nice and big on the screen and each persons words are colour coded. The game play experience is strong and allows more freedom if you want to throw in some of your own sounds
Wii Sing – Wii. Consol Singing Games. Cheapest price: £14.93
The Wii Sing comes pre loaded with 30 tracks so you want to make sure you actually like some of them before you buy. It has wired mics as well. Like most karaoke games, it monitors the pitch and tone of your voice as well as the words and awards points for accuracy.
If you go all “vibrato” or add your own style away from the original work, you will lose points so you have to be a true to the original record as possible, even if you can do a better job! It does not have a built in robot Simon Cowell…. hmmm that would be an interesting concept.
It has good graphics but really needs an inbuilt facility to load more tracks
Thermomix £857 – Liquid Nitrogen “Soda” Syphon
The liquid nitrogen soda syphon is a cool piece of kit – ideal for creating a fantastic light mouse, or a sorbet. In fact once you master it you will find endless variations. It uses a nitrous-oxide cannister.
You basically fill the cannister up with your soup, mouse or sorbet mix and then when you press the trigger it mixes it with the freezing nitrogen gas creating a light fluffy (frozen) mouse
The Gadget Show called it a TM 31 which is not quite right as this is the model of a food processor/blender from Thermomix
Gastro-Vac Vacuum Pressure Cooker – Cooking Gadgets. Kitchen Gadgets.
In this weeks Gadget Show on Five.tv, they had a range of cooking and kitchen gadgets under testing, some of the gadgets were pretty funky and unlikely to be found in anything but a professional kitchen but, a bit like tomorrows world, hopefully we will start to see them as mass-market pieces of equipment.
This is especially true of the “The Gastro-Vac”. It is a pressure cooker that works by cooking food in a vacuum environment. It has a vacuum which enables food to be cooked for longer at a lower temperature. It also allows you to release the vacuum during cooking so the food can “suck in” all the juices from the cooking. The net result should be better flavour and more succulent food – also retaining more vitamins and minerals which are often lost at higher temperatures.
Seabob Jet 4.12 as Seen on The Gadget Show (used by Suzi Perry)
The Seabob Jet is like having your own jet engine for travelling on the surface and under water!
Powered by an electric motor it uses a similar technique to Jet Skis by sucking water in through the front and out at high speed through the back.
2XU Project X Wetsuit as seen on The Gadget Show (worn by Suzi Perry)

The 2XU Project X Wetsuit features neoprene X Flex Panels and “Velocity Strakes” which help to power you through the water.
It has a silver SCS lining to keep you warmer and 39 cell rubber which is the most buoyant on the market.
